Join us in the upper gym on Sunday September 14th after each service for small group sign up! There will be a map to tell which groups are closest to where you live. This is our fall kick off and all groups will be doing the same study this fall.

The 40 Days of Purpose is different than the 40 days of Community that we did two years ago. This will be an exciting time for our church and groups are a great way to get to know others in the church. We encourage groups to invite friends and family members outside the church as well.

Interested in leading a group or have questions about the 40 days? Contact Brett Richmond at 824-5617.

Church Chairman
2 Year Term — Ending March 2007

Renewed Term - April 2007 - 2009

As I write this, it is the day before Thanksgiving. There are many people who have helped and guided me on my faith journey.

I am thankful most to my Creator, my Father, and the Lover of my soul for the grace that He has given me and for the countless ways He continues to bless me. I thank Him for my parents who showed me God's love through their lives. From them I learned what discipleship was all about. I learned about prayer and about giving yourself to others, about encouragement and hospitality.

I am thankful for friends who reached out when I was floundering in my faith. I am thankful for my small group at The Journey North—my brothers and sisters in Christ. I am thankful to God for blessing me with a great wife and two wonderful daughters and a son-in-law, who all desire to be devoted disciples of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I am thankful for, humbled by, and excited about the doors He is opening at The Journey North. I am excited about what God's plan is for growth and outreach through our church.

I truly know that if we continually ask for and listen to God's voice, 'we ain't seen nothing yet'! Amen!!

Outreach Elder
1 Year Term — Ending March 2006

Renewed Term - April 2008 - 2010

I was raised in a non-Christian home and rarely went to church as a child. In fact my childhood does not include a ton of fond memories. My mother married three times by the time I was 11 and most of the time I was without a real father figure in my life. My "fathers" spanned the spectrum of fatherhood...from non-existent, alcoholic and finally work-aholic. We were quite poor and I was constantly teased and picked on throughout most of my school years. Hard to believe now that I was the runt of my class! I never really felt accepted.

Not until I started to date a "religious" girl did I take any interest in church....but hey, I needed to impress her parents...didn't I? I was not ready for people to start praying for me and acting that they really cared about me. Not only did that catch me off guard, but the fact that I kind of liked this church thing was quite surprising.

My turning of my life over to Jesus Christ did not come with a lightning bolt...instead it was a walk of change. I had things in my life that I felt I needed to get rid of and through that process I came to a place that I realized that I needed to give them to someone...Jesus.

Has life been "rosy" since then? No. Has it been better? Definitely!! God has given me an incredible family, a great group of friends and finally a place in my life that I feel totally accepted. I have learned that to "walk this talk" I need to be searching out God and seeking His will. It is a constant learning curve but there is nothing greater than having the opportunity to see God at work, whether in my own life or those around me.

Property Elder
1 Year Term — Ending March 2006

Renewed Term - April 2008 - 2010

With tears running down his face a shy 7 yr old boy ran to the alter and asked Jesus into his heart. Too young to have any works to present as sacrifice he relied solely on the grace of God to take away his sin. This event was the start of my journey with Jesus. Twenty years later, while on a fishing boat in Prince William Sound, Alaska, Jesus revealed himself to be real and involved in my life by answering a small, almost trivial request in dramatic fashion.

Recently an observant person asked me if I had been in a 'spiritual desert'. I don't remember my response, but I thought, "No". I have been thinking about this since then and realize the last few years have been a time of reflection and searching. I remember Becky saying as we pulled into the parking lot for the first Journey North service, "It feels like we're coming home". I felt the same and am so thankful that God has brought us to this place. I am looking forward to God's plan for this church.

God is so good. I am reminded of a verse in Hebrews that says, "...Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders us and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." In addition to the examples of people from the Bible to which this verse refers, He has throughout my life surrounded me with people who walk with Him, living examples of God's grace.

You are among my cloud of witnesses. And we have a race to run, an adventure!

Discipleship Elder

Term: 2 years - April 2008 - 2010

Growing up church attendance was a priority for my family. My parents raised me to respect God and follow the Ten Commandments. As a young adult after many disappointments and struggles I became disillusioned with my life and began my journey in getting to know God. I discovered the beauty of his love, mercy, forgiveness and grace. Now many years into my journey I continue to draw closer to my Lord and Savior. My commitment to Him has deepened. I am so thankful that my Fathers arms are always open to welcome me. During the struggles and challenges in my life I have claimed His promise in 2 Corinthians 12:9- My Grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness (NLT).

This coming November 1 - 8 a trip is in the planning to work the Dump Ministry AFE in Honduras. This mission is working on building school facilities across from the dump where many children and families live just to survive. We currently have room on the team for 3 more people.

For AFE, the cost will be around $1600. That price covers everything you need, food, travel, the stay, job supplies, etc...

AFE is working with the children from the dump and building the school and the facilities needed. Currently, a little over 100 kids come to AFE during the week to learn skills.

We need 8 people to commit to this trip to make it a reality. Please be praying over this mission and see if God is calling you to be a part fo this team. If you have any questions regarding this mission, please contact Sheila at the TJN office at 824-5617.

Hey friends,

Just a quick update from our inaugural Sunday with new lead pastor Jeff Gauss at the helm. You can listen to Jeff's debut message on our website and hear first hand the unexpected, yet divinely led road that led the Gausses to Epiphany Station and Thief River Falls. Just click on the "To Catch a Thief" title under Archive in the Sermon Player (which is totally cool, btw) on the home page.

Also, we've uploaded more than a dozen photos from the evening's festivities, which you can see right here.

Enjoy!

This years Mission Banquet was at Breezy Point Resort on Saturday October 13th and was a huge success. Breezy Point was fantastic - the staff and management went well out of their way to make our event great!

We sold 146 tickets to this event. That is up from last years event. The silent auction brought in $3,540.00, bringing our grand total for the evening to $10,660.00. A new record for our banquet!

The donation boxes from the Feed The Children on Make a Difference Day came to $855.00 at the banquet, and another $1,000.00 donation later for a total of: $1,855.00.

Our early bird golf package went to Mark Bjorlo and the grand prize room makeover went to Julie Eisland. Congratulations to all!

Read more about the history of how Epiphany Station came into being. A small group of people had a vision to reach out to their community for Christ. They have gathered together Sunday evenings for Bible study and worship. They recently bought an old gas station downtown Thief River Falls; and are calling their first Pastor, Jeff Gauss. An amazing story is unfolding up near the Canadian border.

The Journey North's parent churches (Elim and Grace Fellowship) instilled in our DNA a passion and mechanism for planting new churches. The Journey North has faithfully set aside 5% of our weekly Sunday morning offerings for planting new churches since we operned our doors. As of April 2008 our church planting escrow fund balance was a little over $40,000.00.

Church planter - Jeff Gauss is moving his family up to Thief River Falls, MN to plant a new church in a community of 9,000. Pastor Mark Bjorlo and our good friend Pastor Dan Schmitt met Jeff when they all attended Bethel Seminary together. They have stayed in contact throughout the years, and now Jeff is set to move to the great up north. The Journey North and the Adoration leadership teams enthusiastically gave the "green light" to help Epiphany Station reach their community for Jesus Christ.

Two years ago, Mark's friend Jeff Gauss, moved his family to Cushing to pastor a sister church of ours there. Prior to that he had been the planting pastor of an inner-city church called Lounge Divine. During this same period of time, Mark had his first contact with a group of people in Thief River Falls who wanted to start a new church. They started meeting and are a small growing group who have done a great job without a pastor but have been seeking God for an official church planter to move to the North West corner of the state and build this new kingdom work. Last week, The Journey North committed to Jeff $20,000.00 of financial support for this new work. On Sunday, Mark will be introducing our church family to his family and you will have all have a chance to cheer them on. Please be in prayer for the things God will do through them in Thief River Falls. Meet Jeff this Sunday May 25th as he shares his story with all of us.Learn More About Jeff's Church: Epiphany Station Here>>>
